We’re proud to share that all three Westchester schools have been rated Commendable on the 2025 Annual Summative Designation by the Illinois State Board of Education. This recognition reflects the steady growth, hard work, and commitment shown by our students, teachers, and families.
Our IAR story reflects the same upward trend we’re seeing across the district. In reading, more than half of our students (52.6%) met or exceeded expectations, a gain of almost 20 points from last year. We’re seeing stronger comprehension, more confidence, and real growth in how students approach reading.
In math, nearly 39% of students met or exceeded expectations, a solid improvement from last year with a 12% gain. Students are showing greater confidence in solving problems, applying what they’ve learned, and thinking critically about how to reach solutions.
This year, the Illinois State Board of Education adjusted the cut scores for reading and math to align more closely with current learning standards, which means a student’s performance level may look different from last year, even if their score stayed about the same. What matters most is that our local growth remains strong and consistent across all grades.
This progress comes from everyone working together. They reflect what happens every day in our classrooms: teachers using solid instruction, students putting in effort, and families staying involved. It’s proof that consistent, focused work is making a difference for our kids. There’s always more work ahead, but Westchester students are moving forward and showing what’s possible when effort and teamwork come together.
Thank you for being an important part of our success.
